GE Recalls Dishwashers Due to Fire Hazard

The information below is a recall notice from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announcing a recall of dishwashers. Specific model numbers for the recalled product are listed on the CPSC website. This recall involves 1.3 million dishwashers in the United States. Products involved include GE, GE Andora, GE Etherna, GE Profile, and Hotpoint dishwashers. An electrical failure in the dishwasher’s heating element can pose a fire hazard. GE gas received 15 reports of dishwasher heating element failures, which includes 7 reports of fires, three of which caused extensive damage.

This recall presents a potential avenue of recovery about which subrogation professionals should be aware when evaluating fires in residential and commercial losses.
