Jonathan Kernizan is an Associate at Butler in the Tampa office. Jonathan’s practice focuses on litigating Construction, Casualty Defense, and Products Liability cases.

Before pursuing a career in law, Jonathan served in the United States Navy, where he deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom aboard the USS Harry S. Truman.

Jonathan attended St. Thomas University School of Law, where he graduated cum laude and earned distinctions in Legal Writing and Trial Advocacy. In law school, Jonathan held leadership roles in the St. Thomas Law Review, St. Thomas Trial Team, and The Florida Bar YLD Law Student Division. Jonathan also obtained significant litigation experience through a clerkship for Judge Spencer D. Levine at the Florida Fourth District Court of Appeal, and by arguing appeals before the Florida Third District Court of Appeal.

Jonathan is fluent in both English and Spanish.
