Kristen M. Schalter is an Associate Attorney at Butler and practices in the First Party Property Coverage department. She has experience in negotiation, contract disputes, and previously practiced in the areas of local government law and bond financing.

Kristen received her Bachelor of Arts from Grand Valley State University in 2008, her Master of Arts from Cornerstone University in 2012, and her Juris Doctor with an Environmental Certificate from the Florida State University College of Law in 2018.

During law school, she served as an articles and notes editor of the FSU Journal of Land Use and Environmental Law, competed on FSU Law’s behalf in the Tulane University Law School’s International Baseball Arbitration Competition, and earned a certificate in Intercultural Mediation and Arbitration (dispute resolution) from Humbolt University in Berlin, Germany. She was also an active member of the FSU Law sports law and environmental law societies.

Kristen is a member of the Florida Bar and the Hillsborough County Bar Association. She currently serves on the HCBA Young Lawyers Division Wellness Committee and HCBA Pro Bono Judicial Pig Roast and 5K committee. Kristen is also an active member of the Hillsborough County Association for Women Lawyers and the Junior League of Tampa.
