Shannon Nicolas is an Associate in our Tampa office, practicing in First-Party Coverage.

Shannon earned her Bachelor of Arts, Magna Cum Laude, in political science with a minor in criminal justice from Florida Atlantic University in 2017.She then went on to earn her Juris Doctorate from Wake Forest University School of Law in 2020. While in law school, Shannon was heavily involved in practical experience opportunities, particularly legal clinics. She participated in the Innocence and Justice Clinic, where she investigated several post-conviction matters, as well as prepared letters requesting clemency and motions for new trials. She also participated in the Elder Law Clinic, where she prepared wills and related documents and the Child Advocacy Clinic, where she represented the interests of children involved in a variety of family law matters.

Prior to joining Butler, Shannon served as an Assistant Public Defender in the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit. As an Assistant Public Defender, she handled cases from filing through final disposition. She conducted legal research, drafted and litigated motions, and conducted jury trials in both County and Circuit Court.
