Thaïs Passerieu is a Senior Associate at Butler. Her practice is focused on First-Party Property Coverage as well as Extra-Contractual matters. Prior to joining the Firm, Thaïs practiced Third-Party insurance defense litigation, including premises and automobile liability.
Before relocating to Florida, Thaïs was a commercial litigation associate with a full-service law firm in Puerto Rico. She is licensed in Florida and Puerto Rico and has extensive experience in civil, commercial litigation, business torts, and in various immigration matters. Thaïs is also admitted to practice before the First Circuit Court of Appeals and the Federal District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.
Thaïs graduated from University of Puerto Rico School of Law in 2013. While in Law School, she was a Senior Editor for the Law Review and a member of the Federal Criminal Practice Defense Law Clinic. She holds a Master’s Degree in Translation and a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities, with emphasis in music and voice. She also received the Puerto Rico UNESCO Association Distinguished Youth Award on two occasions.
Thaïs is a member of the Florida Bar, the American Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, the National Hispanic Bar Association, the Tampa Hispanic Bar Association and Puerto Rico’s Colegio de Abogados.
Before practicing law, Thaïs was a professional translator and interpreter. She is French-Puerto Rican, born in San Juan, she was raised in France and lived many years in South America. She is also fluent in French and Spanish, and has a degree in French Literature from the Sorbonne in Paris. Thaïs is passionate about language, inter-cultural communication, as well as animal rights advocacy, travel and opera.
