Jamie Combee Novaes is a Partner at Butler who practices in first-party and third-party coverage and extra-contractual matters. Jamie had a wide array of work experience covering topics from education to insurance prior to Butler. At Butler, she continues to apply her legal knowledge, handling numerous cases in all phases of litigation.

Jamie serves on the Board of Directors of the Florida Defense Lawyers Association and formerly served as the Chair of the Women in Law Committee. She is a member of the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel. Jamie was selected as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers in 2022, and in 2022 and 2023, she was recognized by Best Lawyers as “One to Watch.”

Jamie obtained her Doctor of Jurisprudence, with honors, from Stetson University College of Law. While in the honors program, she co-founded and served as editor of the Stetson Journal of Advocacy and the Law. Jamie also advocated on Stetson’s nationally-ranked trial team and competed for the Moot Court Board, which selected her to serve as associate justice. During her time in school, she achieved numerous awards and accolades; served as a research and teaching assistant for Research & Writing, Evidence, and Trial Advocacy; earned the highest grade designation in Research & Writing and Constitutional Law; and was selected to serve on the Student Leadership Development Committee and Student Bar Association.

Before bringing her talents to the firm, Jamie interned at a litigation firm in Tampa and the Chicago Federal Public Defender Program, earning her the prestigious Judge William J. Campbell Intern-at-Law Award.
