Attorney Spotlights – William Linero

October 3, 2022

A trusted and valued advisor, William Linero Jr. knows that efficiency and reliability are two of the most crucial components for his client’s success. A Partner in the Tampa office, William’s practice is concentrated in Construction and Casualty Defense Litigation, and he is the Firm’s Chairperson for the Product Liability Practice Group.

Your practice is concentrated on Construction and Casualty Defense Litigation. What drew you to these practice areas?

In my second summer of law school through the end of my third year, I clerked for an in-house counsel for a large insurance company. That exposed me to the world of insurance defense litigation and some of the work I currently do. I enjoyed it, and was more than happy to pursue it as a career after passing the bar. Shortly after joining Butler, I received my first construction defect referral from a client. It was new and different from what I was used to doing, but I quickly grew to enjoy that, as well. I enjoyed the variety of the types of claims I would see, learning the intricacies of the construction process and construction contracts, and working with experts to analyze the claims.

What do you love most about serving as the Deputy Regional President for Region VII for the Hispanic National Bar Association?

I no longer serve in this capacity. What I did enjoy was working with my fellow board members on creating membership initiatives, exploring ways to assist Hispanics and other classes of people that are underrepresented in the practice of law, and planning events, including the HNBA’s 2017 Corporate Counsel Conference in Miami.

What has been your most significant achievement/success or contribution to the firm?

This is difficult to quantify. However, in addition to the level of service and quality I pride myself in providing our clients, I am particularly proud of my contributions to Butler’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, on which I have served since its inception approximately ten years ago. I believe we have developed some great policies to enhance the firm and reinforce its commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment, and a culture where all people feel welcome and appreciated for who they are.

When you’re not working hard on cases, what do you enjoy doing for fun?

I most enjoy spending time with my family and traveling and going to Bucs games with my son, Massimo.
