Ashley M. Powell is an Associate in our Tampa office. She practices in the area of first-party insurance coverage. With a strong background in insurance defense, Ashley has been representing carriers in first-party property disputes since 2018, handling complex cases involving sinkholes and high-exposure matters. She has litigated cases across Florida and has second-chaired four jury trials to verdict.

A Miami, Florida native, Ashley attended Florida State University, where she graduated magna cum laude in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and French & Francophone Studies. She then earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2015. During law school, she gained hands-on courtroom experience as a certified legal intern for the juvenile law clinic, where she represented juveniles in dependency and delinquency proceedings. She also served as a teaching assistant for Legal Writing and Appellate Advocacy, honing her skills in legal writing and analysis.

Ashley began her legal career representing homeowners in first-party insurance disputes. She also represented employees in discrimination and wrongful termination matters before transitioning to defending insurance carriers in 2018. Before joining Butler, Ashley worked at a large insurance defense firm in Tampa, where she handled a variety of first-party property cases

Ashley is licensed to practice law in the State of Florida. She is also admitted to practice in the Northern, Middle, and Southern District Courts of Florida.

In her free time, Ashley enjoys exercising, trying new recipes, and spending time with her family.
