Heather Miles

Heather Miles is an insurance coverage attorney in our Charlotte office, practicing in both first- and third-party coverage matters.

Heather attended the University of Miami School of Law in Coral Gables, FL where she earned her law degree. While in law school, Heather was a student lawyer for the Immigration Clinic where she represented clients in Immigration Court, advocating on behalf of her clients in a variety of immigration proceedings. While working in the Immigration Clinic, Heather won her first case and her client, a Jamaican political activist and community leader, was granted asylum. Since attending law school, Heather has gained experience in a variety of coverage and civil litigation matters, including first-party property, third-party property, and construction defect. Before joining Butler, Heather worked at Motley Rice in Charleston, South Carolina where she assisted with the national opioid litigation.

Prior to attending law school, Heather graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Biology, where she cultivated a strong foundation in analytical thinking and problem-solving. During her time at South Carolina, she was an active member of Phi Mu fraternity, embracing leadership, service, and lifelong connections within the organization. In addition to her academic and extracurricular involvement, Heather was a member of the University’s club tennis team, balancing her passion for athletics with her studies. Her experiences at South Carolina helped shape her discipline, teamwork, and commitment—qualities that continue to influence her professional career.

Beyond her legal practice, Heather is actively involved in philanthropic initiatives, supporting organizations such as the Lancaster County SPCA, Lancaster County Council of the Arts, Ronald McDonald House charities, Children’s Miracle Network, and a variety of cancer organizations. Further, Heather is a member of the University of South Carolina Gamecock Club.

Heather was born and raised in the Carolinas. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching Gamecock football, traveling, and hiking with her two labrador retrievers, Storm and Denver.

Heather is licensed to practice law in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Alaska.
