Nelly Coronado is an Associate in Butler’s Philadelphia office. Her practice focuses on subrogation and recovery matters. She is admitted to practice law in New Jersey.
Nelly earned her Juris Doctor from Temple University Beasley School of Law. While in law school, she served as Vice President of the Tax and Bankruptcy Law Society and as Student and Community Organizer for the Latinx American Law Student Association. Nelly also participated in the Low-Income Tax Clinic, where she gained hands-on experience assisting low-income clients with federal tax matters. Her academic achievements include recognition as a Conwell Scholar and as a Hispanic Bar Association of Pennsylvania Legal Education Fund Scholar. In 2022, she interned with Ceiba, a Philadelphia nonprofit dedicated to advancing economic development and financial inclusion within the Latino community.
Nelly received dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Politics and in Latin American and Latino Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
Before joining Butler, Nelly handled general liability insurance defense matters, representing clients through all phases of litigation, including discovery, motion practice, depositions, and arbitration proceedings. She also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Judge Kay Yu in the Court of Common Pleas of the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania, where she drafted trial court opinions on direct appeal and pre-trial decisions and conducted extensive legal research in support of judicial rulings. Earlier in her career, she worked as a paralegal for five years and served as a criminal investigator in the Public Defender’s Office in San Joaquin County, California.
