CoScentrix Recalls DD Brand Tin Candles due to Fire Hazard

August 18, 2014

The information below is a recall notice from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CSPC) announcing a recall of DD Brand Tin Candles. Specific model numbers for the recalled product are listed on the CPSC website. CoScentrix has announced a voluntary recall of its 4-ounce DD branded candles sold in a round metal tin with a metal lid. CoScentrix has received two reports of the candle’s surface igniting and one report of minor property damage. No injuries have been reported. The candle’s high flame can ignite the surface of the wax and polymer coating on the tin-plated container, posing a fire hazard. The recall involves approximately 126,000 candles sold exclusively at Hobby Lobby stores nationwide and online at hobbylobby.com from June 2014 through July 2014.

This recall presents a potential avenue of recovery which subrogation professionals should be aware of when evaluating losses.
