Meijer Recalls Touch Point Fan Heaters

February 24, 2012

The link below is a recall notice from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CSPC) announcing a recall of TouchPoint Forced Air Heaters. Specific model numbers for the recalled product are listed on the CPSC website.┬áMeijer, Inc. has announced a voluntary recall of TouchPoint Forced Air Heaters. Meijer has received one report of a unit’s base burning, melting and damaging the carpet beneath it. No injuries have been reported.┬áThe air heater’s exposed and unshielded electrical components can cause the unit to overheat and melt, posing a fire hazard. The involved TouchPoint fans were sold exclusively at Meijer stores in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio from September 2011 through November 2011.

This recall presents a potential avenue of recovery about which subrogation professionals should be aware when evaluating fires in residential and commercial losses.
