Champion Power Equipment Recalls Portable Generators Due to Fire Hazard

The information below is a recall notice from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announcing a recall of Champion Power Equipment Portable Generators. Specific model numbers for the recalled product are listed on the CPSC website. Champion has received eleven reports of fuel leaking from the generators, including eight reports of the generators catching fire with two causing property damage. The recall involves two models of Champion Power Equipment portable generators with model numbers 41332 and 41532. The model and serial numbers can be found on the side of the generator above the yellow generator end cap. The involved Champion Power Equipment portable generators were sold exclusively at Costco Wholesale stores from December 2011 through July 2012.

This recall presents a potential avenue of recovery about which subrogation professionals should be aware when evaluating losses.
