Cindy Cumberbatch is an Associate in our Tampa Office, handling first-party property matters with precision and efficiency.

Cindy received her Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Design from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She earned her Master of Business Administration from the University of South Florida in 2010, with concentrations in Marketing and Entrepreneurship. Cindy earned her Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law in 2014. While at Stetson, Cindy was involved in several on-campus organizations, most notably the Black Law Students Association (BLSA). She was a member of the BLSA executive board, serving as chaplain, and also competed as a member of the BLSA trial team.

Mentorship and community service are integral pillars to Cindy’s everyday life.  She has been the assistant director of Let’s Talk College, a mentorship program that helps middle-school and high-school students realize higher education as an expectation rather than an exception, since 2009.  Additionally, she was a Big Sister in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Florida program for nearly six years.  Cindy has served on the Board of Directors of Mennonite Mission Network since 2015.  She currently serves as Vice Chair of the Board and Chair of the Board Development Committee.  Cindy is also very active in her local church.  She serves as General Counsel of her church.  She is also a multi-instrument musician, and a leader of the Praise and Worship Teams.

Before joining Butler, Cindy handled first-party property claims in the Tampa office of a nationwide law firm.  She previously also handled Plaintiffs’ personal injury, mortgage foreclosure defense, immigration, and landlord-tenant matters before diving into first-party property defense.

Cindy is an active member of the George Edgecomb Bar Association and the Hillsborough County Bar Association.

In her spare time, Cindy enjoys cooking and baking, making music, spending time with family and friends, and spending time with her rescue dog, Calypso.
