Nicholas “Gio” Giovanni Bush

Giovanni Bush is an Associate at Butler and works in our Tampa office, where he practices in the firm’s Appellate Practice group. He focuses his practice on handling complex civil appeals in the areas of liability defense, first-party coverage, and extra-contractual matters in state and federal appellate courts. He also provides litigation support with dispositive motions and appellate support at trial.

Prior to joining Butler, Giovanni served as a career staff attorney and a founding member of the Sixth District Court of Appeal. Giovanni also has several years of experience representing insurers and employers in state and federal courts, including litigating before the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation. Giovanni is admitted to practice in all of Florida courts, as well as in the Middle and Northern Districts of Florida and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Giovanni received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Florida in International Studies and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Florida State University College of Law. While in law school, Giovanni was the editor-in-chief of FSU’s Journal of Transnational Law & Policy and an executive member of the Florida State College of Law Moot Court Team. Shortly after law school, Giovanni interned for the International Bar Association’s Human Rights Institute in London, United Kingdom.

Giovanni also holds an LLM in International Human Rights Law from the University of Essex in Colchester, United Kingdom. He also has experience in civil rights litigation, working as a staff attorney at Legal Services of North Florida, where he appeared as a legal expert on national news outlets, including ABC World News Tonight, Univision, and Bloomberg Law. Giovanni has been an adjunct professor at Florida State University College of Law and the Center for the Advancement of Human Rights.

Giovanni enjoys spending time with his wife and kids in his free time. He is a vestry member of Trinity Anglican Church of Tampa and enjoys coaching his son’s soccer team.
