Jo’Anna Clayton is a law clerk in Butler’s Tampa office. Jo’Anna is a committed legal professional rooted in public service, education, and leadership. Born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, she earned a Bachelor’s in Social Work from Florida State University in Spring 2018, prior to law school Jo’Anna was a sixth‑grade science teacher through Teach For America—demonstrating her passion for education and equity.

She went on to earn her Juris Doctor cum laude from Florida A&M University College of Law in Spring 2025. During her time there, she held several prominent roles: Editor‑in‑Chief of the Florida A&M Law Review, President of the Black Law Students Association, Graduation and Hooding Chair, Class Speaker, and Sub‑Region Director for the Southern Region of the National Black Law Students Association. She also engaged in hands‑on legal work through the Guardian ad Litem Clinic, an in‑house legal internship with Siemens Energy, and valuable experiences at other law firms.

She recently took the Florida Bar Examination, and her results are currently pending.

Outside of her professional endeavors, she treasures time with her family, going to church, reading and serving as a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
