Kevin Murch is an Associate in the Tampa office and practices primarily in the areas of Construction Defect and Delay Litigation and Construction Law. He is licensed to practice in all Florida State Courts.
Born and raised in West Bridgewater, Massachusetts, Kevin received his Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies from the United States Air Force Academy in 1996. Kevin is a specialist in Counterterrorism operations, Cybersecurity operations, Risk Assessment, and Incident Response. He served as a Security Forces and Force Protection officer and has guarded the entire B-2 Stealth Bomber Fleet at Whiteman AFB, MO; designed Cybersecurity architecture for USAEDS (monitoring the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty); and was on the Force Protection Staff for United States Central Command forward deployed to the Middle East on September 11, 2001. In addition to serving in the Military, Kevin developed an interest in business operations, earning his Master’s degree in Business Administration from Webster University in March 2002.
Kevin received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Levin College of Law at the University of Florida in 2005. Prior to joining Butler, Kevin practiced both Construction Defect Litigation and Aviation Litigation. Kevin helped prepare the first PPP in Pasco County‘s History, resulting in a protest-free award for a 20 million dollar roadway improvement contract in Pasco County and negotiating the Construction Contracts for the construction of the Glazer Children’s Museum in Tampa. Kevin has also been an E-discovery Specialist with Thomson Reuters Westlaw, earning the coveted Certified E-Discovery Specialist (CEDS) Designation from ACEDS as an expert in the identification, collection, and processing of electronic information from the Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists.
After Kevin’s wife lost her battle with cancer in 2016, he took a position as a High School Math teacher for Title 1 schools in Pasco County and focused on his family. He specialized in Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Statistics (both Honors Statistics and AP Statistics). Additionally, Kevin runs a tutoring business with his current wife, Dawn (a former Performing Arts Director who converted into a dynamic Math Teacher and Tutor), helping students who “don’t like math” to “like math again.”
Outside of his legal practice, Kevin enjoys giving back to the local community by providing volunteer services, especially for educating students in math; participating in Veterans’ organization (Team RWB, WWP, T2T, etc.); attempting to complete ascents for all the 14ers in Colorado; watching Hockey, Baseball, and Basketball; and traveling with his five kids and six dogs.
