Khrystyne Rasmussen

Senior Associate | Charlotte

Khrystyne Rasmussen is a Senior Associate in the Firm’s Charlotte office, practicing first-party and third-party coverage.

Khrystyne joined the Firm in 2019, where she has focused her practice on the defense of first-party property matters involving a wide range of complex coverage disputes. Khrystyne protects clients’ interests with respect to first-party claims arising out of commercial and residential property damage related to fire, windstorm, water, and other perils. She assists insurers with claims investigations, compliance with current insurance regulations, and evaluating coverage pursuant to numerous types of policies, including homeowners, renters, condominium, commercial property, wind, inland marine, and builder’s risk policies.

Khrystyne is experienced in litigating coverage disputes that involve property damage, business interruption, allegations of bad faith, and other extra-contractual claims. She represents domestic and international insurers in State and Federal Courts within North Carolina and South Carolina throughout all stages of the litigation process.

Khrystyne also handles third-party coverage matters that involve premises liability, construction defects, wrongful death, and professional liability, among others. She advises insurers on a variety of issues that arise in the third-party context, such as coverage for defense and indemnity, tenders by additional insureds, time-limited demands, and declaratory judgment actions.

Whether it be through presentations, panels, or other informal discussions, Khrystyne is frequently invited to speak with clients and industry professionals alike regarding current, relevant issues and events related to first-party property insurance coverage, including topics such as policy interpretation in a post-COVID world.

Khrystyne received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Salem College in 2012. She then received her Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2014. While at Central, Khrystyne was an active member of the Trial Advocacy Board where she competed in trial competitions throughout North Carolina. Before joining the Firm, Khrystyne handled matters involving regulatory compliance and complex financial services litigation.
