Matthew Cogswell

Matthew Cogswell is an Associate at Butler in our Charlotte Office. He practices in our first-party property coverage department.

Matthew graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Foreign Affairs in 2019 and received his Juris Doctor in 2021 from Elon University School of Law in Greensboro, North Carolina. During law school, Matthew served as a student lawyer for the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Clinic where he assisted local business owners with entity formation and intellectual property needs. Additionally, Matthew served as a Student Leader of the Elon Law Tax Clinic. Prior to joining our firm, Matthew practiced at a creditor’s rights firm.

In his free time, Matthew enjoys following Virginia Cavalier sports and spending time with family and friends.
