To celebrate International Women’s Day, we would like to highlight a few important figures in history. Watch the video below:
They called her a cyclone, a woman of flame.
Laura Cornelius Kellogg’s the name.
She fought to preserve what was dwindling and few
In an age where the old was swallowed by new.
While across the vast sea, Mary’s life would begin
In an ongoing battle that she struggled to win.
Mary Tape had the victory, but it was just a prequel
For a decision that claimed we are “separate but equal.”
Jane Cooke Wright, a physician researcher.
She stood with the few to start the fight against cancer.
They developed chemotherapy, a light in the dark
For the millions of patients to fight with a spark.
From ground control down to the space up high
Sally Ride really was born to fly.
Flew the Challenger, twice, then continued to teach
Young girls and boys nothing’s out of their reach.
These are just a few of the voices to hear
From the women in history throughout the years.
As we look to the future, we look to the past
And see the bright works that have come to pass.
