Brian Hohman is a Partner at Butler and has been with the firm since 2011. His practice focuses on first-party property coverage, fraud and fire litigation, and extra-contractual matters. He also has extensive experience in premises liability coverage and third-party liability matters.
Brian graduated with honors from Florida State University in 1999. While at Florida State, he studied abroad in London and interned at the Houses of Commons under Dame Angela Eagle, MP. He later attended Creighton University School of Law, where he interned with the Pottawattamie County Public Defender’s Office and clerked for the Air Force JAG Corps. Brian earned his Juris Doctor in 2004, cum laude.
Before joining Butler, Brian worked as a legislative assistant and campaign manager. He also served as an Assistant State Attorney for the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit for over three years. During that time, he rose to the level of Felony Assistant State Attorney, tried over 30 jury trials, and managed a number of significant cases. Brian is also a five-time recipient of Misdemeanor Attorney of the Month.
After serving at the State Attorney’s Office, Brian practiced in insurance defense, automobile liability, construction, civil rights, and criminal defense. Since joining Butler, he has handled complex and specialized matters involving excess coverage, property insurance, and fraud. He has successfully argued several summary judgment motions on behalf of his clients and has defended against and prosecuted several claims for attorney fees and costs. Throughout his career, Brian has tried approximately 35 criminal and civil trials.
Outside of work, Brian enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, cheering on the Seminoles, and playing golf.
